City Of Jefferson - Tourism Department

Jefferson is a serene but vivacious historic town, a genuine artifact of the thriving riverport town it once was. It is home to more state registered historic structures than anywhere else in Texas, many of which are also listed on The National Registry of Historic Places. For more than 60 years, Jefferson has been best known for its annual Pilgrimage event, hosted by The Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club, featuring a revolving yearly selection of beautifully restored and period furnished mid-nineteenth century homes, which remain as authentic and loving tributes to the city’s past. Jefferson is truly, The Queen of the Bayou and a unique and special treasure to be shared, discovered and explored.

I live in Jefferson and it’s such a wonderful place to be. These guys have gone above and beyond to help get the word out about our quaint town. Keep it up!

Such a beautiful town with so much history. The people that live there are so kind and helpful. My favorite stores are The Port Jefferson Outpost with all the candy and ice cream with wonderful breakfast and lunch specials. Also The Willow Tree, an upscale boutique with beautiful things.

We always love our time spent in Jefferson! Auntie Skinners for lunch... AMAZING food and atmosphere. WONDERFUL shops and shop keepers. VERY disappointed to be confronted by, and have to deal with, the owner of Jefferson Bottle Werks for walking by his store front. Hard to believe this obviously unstable man is allowed to sit in front of his store (amidst garbage, beer cans and junk) drinking and badgering people. I feel sorry for the merchants around him who have to deal with him on a daily basis. A definite black mark on this wonderful little community. Disappointing that the City does not have ordinances concerning the obvious safety issues while walking in front of his store, his public intoxication and hostile demeanor.

We just got back from Jefferson Tx. I was totally shocked about all the history and culture there. There is so much to do and see. We stayed at the Jefferson Hotel and it was great!

Jefferson is my favorite town in Texas... Enchanting, friendly, and a refreshing escape from the modern world... I love this place, these people, and the old-fashioned spirit of the town!
