LaSalette Restaurant

LaSalette Restaurant is the realization of Chef Manuel Azevedo’s dream to champion Portuguese cuisine throughout the United States and beyond. His dream was born at an early age when he would assist his mother, the restaurant’s namesake, prepare recipes from their former home in the Azores Islands. It has been more than a decade since LaSalette welcomed its first diners, and the LaSalette family continues to invite you to join them in their second decade of proudly sharing Chef Azevedo’s interpretation of modern Portuguese cuisine. - See more at: http://www.lasalette-restaurant.com/azevedo-family.html#sthash.QRgnWBSz.dpuf

After our trip to Portugal earlier this year we look for Portuguese restaurants and specifically for "Caldo Verde." This signature soup was on point as well as the seafood soup and the paella. The surprise of the meal was the beets with walnuts and goat cheese. We will be returning to try LaSalette's other offerings soon. Pt and Ml Niggle

We've been coming from San Francisco to Sonoma Plaza for many years but somehow missed this gem Portuguese restaurant down a side alley on the east side. We stopped for lunch on a warm, sunny October day, perfect for eating in the outdoor patio. The service was impeccable and food gourmet and delicious. We had the beet salad and Caldo Verde for starters, followed by the Bacalhau no Forno and the Arroz á Valenciana. Compliments to the chef for all dishes! Cappuccinos with complementary sweet balls of coconut and pineapple were the perfect final touch. We shall return!!

Nice to enjoy wonderful food. Fish was exquisite, Wait staff was warm, welcoming and professional. It made me almost forget my freezer thawing out because the power is still out. Yet I can't complain, So far I still have a home to return to! #putoutthefiresoon

As a local, I never though to dine here because it is a tourist destination. However, I'm so glad I tried it and now it's my new favorite restaurant in Sonoma. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. I have been there twice now and both times I have sat outside on the patio. The service is great. Between each course we received fresh silverware and plates. The wine selection is great and features my favorite wine from Portugal called Raza. The food was beautifully presented and filled with flavor. This is a must stop place while visiting Sonoma.

Came here for lunch and ordered the fish and chips. There were three pieces of fish which was tasty, although I though the serving portion could have been a little bigger.

I had never been here before but I've been spending a lot of time exploring Sonoma this past year and I was intrigued that there was a Portuguese restaurant in the area. It was located in a really easy place for parking in the center of Sonoma. I brought 2 people with me to check it out, one being a teenager who is very picky! Walking in I realized it was a tiny, cozy little wine bar/restaurant. They have a great outdoor area but it was a  little too hot outside to eat there so we chose inside which is lovely. This isn't a jeans and t shirt type of place, it is more elevated so I suggest wearing something business casual or simply classy. My kiddo was in hipster looking skinny jeans and a nice button down shirt so that was okay.We ordered some wine, I had a nice crisp Sauvignon Blanc and my friend had a light fruity Cabernet Sauvignon, good pours for both which can be hard to find in Sonoma and Napa. Then we both had some dry sparkling wine. The service was a little bit slow for my taste, especially when you have a teenager with you that is ready to get back to the video games at home. Anyway, here is what we ate:Food:1. I started with the "dad's salad" which was delicate and so unique, it came with asparagus, beets, peas, and something called "almond-olive dirt", Creative and tasty, I would get this again anyday. My friend had the crispy pork belly on a little taro root puree and it was really good. I had a nice big bite and I can never pass up taro, I love the stuff. It's like a potato but creamier and packed with butter flavor naturally. 2. My entree was steak frites, so Angus strip steak with crispy piri-piri seasoned french fries. Piri-Piri is a Portuguese chili pepper spice blend and it is incredible, spicy and enhanced the entire dish.My friend had the whole Branzino which my kiddo shared with her and they said it was really delicious. I tried a little bite and agreed, it seemed to be bathed in a buttery sauce which I thought was perfect. I can't wait to come back for lunch sometime!

A do not miss place.  The foie gras was served with smoked duck breast, polenta, and small pate.  This was the best price performer during out trip- outstanding combination of temperature and flavors.  Wife had fish special and I had Brazilian National dish - both were excellent.  Nice, pleasant service.  I would add the hostess allowed us to change table "twice" until we were happy.  Moderate prices.

I travel to Sonoma for work quite often and have been unimpressed by the local restaurants - UNTIL NOW! LaSalette is our new go-to restaurant. The food and ingredients are inventive, fresh, interesting enough to keep us excited and comforting enough to keep us coming back time after time. Do yourself a favor and order the Scallops. They are cooked perfectly every time.
