Lorei Portraits

After spending five years in the ad business, I went to work for my father as a school pictures photographer. It was the most grueling job I had ever done. Try creating a handsome new portrait of a squirming child every sixty seconds, 250 to 350 times a day for months, then years. What I learned, however, is that every child is extraordinary, beautiful. Still, I longed to do something more. I enrolled in grad school in 1990 with dreams of writing the Great American Novel. My wife, Gretchen, and I had two small children and eventually three more. That’s when we started this business—in a tiny back room in our tiny house on Maiden Lane. But more importantly, that’s why we started this business, we had mouths to feed. I began photographing college events, then class reunions and weddings. Within four years we had a full blown business. We grew and grew and grew again before settling on the current mix of family, children, high school seniors, and individual portraits. Three years ago, we doubled the size of our studio. And this past year we added production space, lighting, backgrounds and so much more. We’ve created this studio to make beautiful images of you and your family. And we want you to be part of it. We want you to experience our amazing studio. Paul Lorei
