I really like this place! It's cute, cozy, really great vegan friendly options (coconut soup is my favorite) and the service is wonderful.

I will never claim to be an expert of Thai cuisine, but I know that I love this place. I've been a patron for nearly 15 years. I've tried Thai all over town, but I keep coming back to Tropical Thai. They use a generous amount of fish sauce in their Pad Thai, which I appreciate, its more savory than sweet. The Massaman curry is rich and creamy, I never tire of it. The Crab Rangoons are made with real crab and curry. The Amazing Tofu is sweet and wonderful if you feel like taking a break from spicy. The food in general tends to be less spicy than some other places, but if you request spicy they will definitely kick it up for you. The owner is also lovely and kind.

Favorite Thai place/restaurant! We drive from Bradenton just to go here.  Tried about a half dozen Thai places after moving from NYC and this is the best!  I love the drunken noodle with chicken, pad Thai, crab rangoon is amazing!  We like the sampler plate. Love the Thai iced tea too. My 7 year old absolutely loves the chicken satay (picky eater) and the Thai donuts are super yummy! The owner is so friendly & sweet and always remembers us. Great food & service every time we go.

Tropical Thai is as close to an institution as you will find in Sarasota, food- or any other kind of- wise. Twenty years they've been open. That speaks to a combination of loyal customers and business skill. Three years ago they moved to the current, smaller location, which might ensure many more years of operation. Doubt about any restaurant's longevity is a product of the streaky and fickle Sarasotan customer. From the halcyon days of Season to the awful days of August the average restaurant proprietor sees heaven and hell. Demanding part-timers provide the yearly nut to survive, but the local base which sticks through the summer must be served as well, even if there are only three of them a night. Truly a feast or famine. However, TT appears to have navigated these man-eating carp-filled waters. Curries, soups, noodles and salads are reliably good to excellent. The pad thai gets some Yelp!ers unglued, so I'll try that at some future point. But with so much other choice, I plan not to get stuck on the one allegedly weak dish in the lineup.

This place is awesome for what it is, definitely good Thai food. Only complaint I have is that they changed location and the new location isn't all that great. I spoke with our waitress about the old location and she knows who I am because I'm a regular and every time I go down to Sarasota with a big group of people I always bring them business. She told me that at the old location they raised their rent and they were no longer able to afford it, so they have to get a smaller location. Unfortunately that's what small businesses have to do sometimes to stay profitable. Besides that, very friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommend the place.

There are many other Thai restaurants in town but this one is outstanding. I have been to many other Thai restaurants in New York, Chicago, San Fran, and others along my travels but this one is by far my favorite. From food to service, A++ The amazing chicken is just that, AMAZING. Never had a bad experience here and i do frequent often. Food and service is always consistently great. The owner is usually in house and ensures you are content. Keep up the good work and i will keep coming back and bragging to anyone who will listen.

Delicious.  Have been coming here for ten years now and the food is always excellent.  Tonight I enjoyed a red curry vegetarian dish and it was superb.  The sauce was tasty but not overly hot. The vegetables were fresh and cooked just right. There was also a nice assortment of vegetables.   Highly recommend!!

The Yum Duck was tasty and spiced perfectly!I just moved over to this side of town and I was out bike riding looking for places to eat.  Drunken Poet was closed, so I figured I would try out Tropical Thai.  The atmosphere was ok, smelled fine and the place was clean and I was promptly greeted at the door.  I only ordered the Yum Duck which was delicious, seasoned and saucy.  The duck was well prepared and the salad was fresh.  My only complaint was that everything was rather chunky and needed a lot of cutting, which was a lot of work when only given a dull knife.

Very good food, friendly service, quaint interior, I could go back.  Had the Pad Se-Ew, which is sautéed wide rice noodles with eggs, soy sauce, broccoli, straw mushrooms and carrots with beef.  The tap water is good.  Must be filtered.

Awesome authentic thai food. The lunch prices are very reasonable. You get soup and egg rolls with your lunch entree. The service was very attentive. I'll definitely be coming here often
