Best pork I've had outside of Memphis TN and that's the highest praise I can give a pork dish. I pride myself on going new restaurants and always trying something new to eat. Especially considering how much it costs to get to Hawaii and how little time we had. We came to Umekes twice and I ordered the kalua pork twice. Oh and the bulleh fries are great and my wife loved the poke.

Don't be deceived by the simple appearance of this spot, located in a strip mall. Umeke's has really fresh and delicious poke, you guys. I love all the flavors I've tried, and I would have eaten there every single day while visiting if I had discovered it soon enough! Great sides, and great price, too. There's also a rotating daily poke to keep things extra fun.

My boyfriend and I had been in Hawaii for about 10 days and wanted to try all the hot Poke spots and I think Umeke's wins for sure.I ordered the basic spicy mayo ahi tuna (to compare to other poke places on the island) and my boyfriend got both the avocado and da sweetie poke. We had sides of white rice with seaweed sprinkles, macaroni salad, and spicy crab salad. All the ahi choices had distinct flavors and I think the avocado was by far my favorite. It was like an even better version of guacamole...if that could be possible. The portion size we got for take out was perfect for the price, as we had been to a few other restaurants that were waaay overpriced for the amount of poke that you actually got. My 1 scoop portion was $14 and my boyfriends was around $20 for 2 scoops. It was also super FRESH, I mean literally, they were cutting up the fish striaght from the boat behind the counter. The place seemed nice/clean on the inside and kind of resembled a lunch counter at school. The one thing we were not happy about was that our server was pretty rude and seemed to want us to get out of there as fast as possible. We tried to ask for tips on what to get and she only had short answers for us. Other than that we were happy with our meals for sure!

The poke is good.  Specifically, the spicy ahi and ahi avocado.  The two choice poke bowl is HUGE and comes with two scoops of poke and two scoops of sides.  The spicy crab salad is pretty good, too.The only downside is that it's expensive.  Regular poke bowl is $14, the double $22!!! OUCH!

I was shocked. After 7 days in Hawaii and eating Poke once a day this place takes the award for best Poke I have ever had in my entire life ( and I love poke ). The special Poke of the day ( sriracha and avocado ) was amazing, the kim chi shrimp was giant and juicy, and all of the sides were fresh and fantastic.

This little hole in wall will not disappoint! My kids really enjoyed the (Kool aid) drink they make there. And the poke' was very fresh and tasty! The staff was also very friendly.

We came here for poke after a recommendation from the company we scuba dove with, and man was it good! I eat gluten free due to Celiac disease and they had several options for me. I ended up ordering a "big boy" with "hottie," which had a little kick to it but was so good. It came with brown rice and two sides, which were seaweed salad and a spicy crab salad. They have another poke that is gluten free but I can't remember the name of it (plus they were kind enough to let me sample both!) my boyfriend ordered an avocado/tuna poke and the sweetie. He also loved both. They sell beer and lemonade in those large jars, which was also very tasty and refreshing. So the two big boy orders and the strawberry lemonade ended up being $50 for lunch but it was definitely worth it. The food was super tasty and the staff was friendly!

If I could eat there every day when I'm in Kona, I would. This is recommended by a dive shop worker, and I cannot be happier about this. The fish is fresh no matter if it's cooked or raw. We had ono ceviche and swordfish in curry sauce, and both are GREAT. The ono was so ono (literally) I ordered two sides of those. The waitress definitely gave us the right recommendation. Service is great, and it's a nice local spot for everyone. I'll definitely go again whenever I'm in Kona!

This place was the beginning of me turning into a poke snob. It really is true, poke is much fresher in Hawaii than the mainland. It'll be difficult for me to eat poke elsewhere and resist saying, "It's much better in Hawaii". I got a few different flavors. The fish were all very fresh! The avocado poke everyone raves about I thought was good but my hands-down favorite was Da Sweetie. It's very simple, but something about the subtle flavor just made me go crazy for it. The girls behind the counter were very helpful. Definitely get your value here with the amount they give you compared to other poke places. If I'm ever back on this island, I'm definitely coming back here!
